The Shanghai Diamond Exchange is a national-level diamond market established on October 27, 2000 with the approval of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China. It is the only diamond import and export trading platform in mainland China.The Diamond Exchange is a member of the World Federation of Diamond Exchanges (WFDB) and operates in accordance with internationally accepted diamond trading rules, providing a fair, just, safe and closed management trading venue for Chinese and foreign diamond traders.
The Shanghai Diamond Exchange moved from the Shanghai Jinmao Tower to the newly built “China Diamond Trading Center” Building with a total construction area of 50,000 square meters in October 2009.As a special customs supervision area similar to the nature of a free trade zone, the security check and security system in the building are all super-level designs.The Customs, SAFE, Bureau of Industry and Commerce, Taxation Bureau, and other resident government agencies act as “one-stop” business receiving agencies, exercising government functions in the building; in-house banking, escort, customs declaration, diamond appraisal and other institutions provide supporting services.
Status: The Shanghai Diamond Exchange is the only diamond import and export trading platform in China.
Rules: The import and export business of diamonds under the national general trade shall be uniformly managed by the customs of the Diamond Exchange in accordance with the provisions of the national policy.
